While Fly Corporate, which operates a service to Brisbane, has confirmed it will resume two flights a week from next week, Regional Express (REX) has today confirmed that it will return to Armidale soon.
It comes after Fly Corporate confirmed on Tuesday it was launching a Tamworth to Melbourne flight.
Both Fly Corporate and REX will be receiving funding from the federal government, after it put together a scheme to underwrite services to regional Australia.

Jeff Boyd, Fly Corporate's said the government had given airlines approval to do to return flights a week to regional airports such as Armidale.
"They have asked us to triangulate services where possible to try and pick up extra people," he said.
"So the service will go from Brisbane down to Coffs, across to Armidale and back to Brisbane. It will do that on Wednesdays and Fridays."
The first flight will be on Wednesday, May 6.
REX is yet to lock in a date for its return, but it praised the government for providing the Regional Airline Network Support (RANS) program announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, late last month.
"With the Commonwealth assistance packages for regional carriers in place, we are confident that we will be able to help all regional communities who are willing to work in partnership with us to rebuild their regional air services to their full potential over the next two years," the airline's deputy chairman John Sharp said.
"Rex will stand by all regional communities that have stood by Rex during this global and national crisis."
All three carriers that had been providing regular passenger services to Armidale Regional Airport suspended their flights earlier this month, leaving the region without any air passenger service.
The airline had been running flights with a drastic decline in passenger numbers before they suspended services.
