The fit-out of Baba K's Lebanese Cuisine is nearing completion and will operate from the building that used to house Pizza Hut - which closed late last year - on Peel Street.
Baba K's owners, Mary and Kamal Abbas, are aiming to open the shop in the next month and will relocate from Sydney with their three kids to do so.
"It's been cleaned up. A few more things just need fitting inside the shop," Mrs Abbas said.
They decided to make the move after chatting to some good friends from Tamworth and they're also looking to hire some locals.
"It all depends on how the shop goes but we'll start employing as soon as it opens," Mrs Abbas said.
As far as the food is concerned, Mrs Abbas will do the cooking.

She was taught how to cook by her mother and was inspired to open the restaurant after her sister passed away last year.
"My sister always dreamt of opening a restaurant and her siblings working together," Mrs Abbas said.
"So, I've gotten my inspiration from my sister and my mum.
She added: "I want to bring my mum and sister's flavours into the restaurant."
Mrs Abbas said the spices would bring the food alive.
"But I can't give away my secret ingredient," she said.
While Mrs Abbas won't divulge her secret ingredients, she said you can expect charcoal chicken, falafal, shawarma chicken and lamb rolls amongst other things at Baba K's.
The restaurant will at first only serve takeaway options but plans to start a delivery service.
Once COVID-19 restrictions ease, they will open their dining area as well.
