Tamworth run of wet weather set to continue tomorrow

Friday is expected to bring between 8 to 25mm of rainfall, with the Bureau of Meteorology forcecast predicting an 80 per cent chance of showers.

Saturday may also bring a light sprinkle, with a 40 per cent chance of a millimeter or so of rain.

The extra rain will raise hopes the city is slowly emerging out of its worst drought in history.

In a little over three months, Tamworth has already received far more rain this year than in all of 2019.

The Northern Tablelands has already received above average April rainfall, in a month that tends to be the region's driest.

The wet change has meant a loosening of water restrictions in Nundle, with the village set to drop to level 2 on Monday. Tamworth's water restrictions remain at level 5.

The four-day forecast predicts cooler-than-average temperatures, with a top of 22 degrees on Friday, 23 degrees on Saturday, and 21 on Sunday.

Sunday's minimum temperature is predicted to dip below 10 degrees. BoM predicts a minimum of 7 degrees.

Gunnedah will almost certainly get rain on Friday, with the Bureau forecasting a 90 per cent chance of at least 8mm and at most 25mm.

There is a chance of a thunderstorm, and heavy falls on the plains. On Friday there is a 20 per cent chance of any rain.

Overnight temperatures are predicted to drop next week, with nighttime temperatures of between 6 and 11 on Sunday. Days will remain mild, between 18 and 23.
