THE Tamworth region has recorded two new cases of coronavirus in the latest statistics released by NSW Health on Friday.

As of 8pm on Thursday, the two new cases take Tamworth's total to nine confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The new cases come as the Hunter New England Health region recorded 18 new cases overnight, taking the region's overall tally to 142.
Currently, Hunter New England Health is treating five patients in hospitals across the region, while two patients remain in intensive care.
Daily welfare checks are being carried out for the district's other confirmed cases.
Inverell has also seen an increase in cases, going from one case on Thursday to three confirmed cases on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Liverpool Plains has one confirmed case of the coronavirus.
Tenterfield remains with three confirmed cases, while the Glen Innes Severn Shire has recorded its first two cases.

A Hunter New England Health spokesperson said it was investigating who the latest patients may have come into recent contact with.
"Hunter New England Health is contacting close contacts of the new cases, who are being asked to self-isolate for 14 days from last contact," the spokesperson said.
"They will be contacted every day to check that they are well and any contact who develops COVID-19 symptoms will be tested for the infection. "
Gunnedah, Armidale, Gwydir, Walcha and Moree are still yet to have any confirmed cases.
