Tamworth rain: Chaffey Dam water supply remains low as rain fails to fall in catchment area

It's certainly been wet in Tamworth but little of it has belted down in the Chaffey Dam catchment area.

The dam levels sat at just more than 14 per cent on Monday, a Tamworth Regional Council spokeswoman said.

"While Tamworth has recently experienced some great rainfall, the Chaffey Dam catchment area has not been so fortunate," she said.

"This has led to minimal inflows into the dam.

"Due to this it is important that all residents remember to work together and conserve water now."

When Chaffey Dam reaches 10 per cent, new water restrictions will be triggered for those using the town water supply.

Residents have been asked to try to keep their water use to a maximum of 150 litres per person, per day.

That number will drop to just 100L if Chaffey Dam levels drop to 10 per cent.

About 4mm of rain was recorded at Tamworth Airport on Monday.

The rest of the week could bring light showers with the weather set to warm up from Wednesday.
