THE Tamworth Junior Rugby Club is pulling out all the stops to try and recruit new players for the upcoming season.

In a bid to attract new players to the sport, the club will waive registration fees for players looking to don the Tri Colours this season.
Club president Aaron Turner said the move was aimed at helping families feeling the effects of the region's ongoing drought.

"We have been struggling with numbers for a number of years now, due to a number of factors but the main ones being travel and cost," Turner said.
"To help families keep the cost down, we decided to pay registration and try and increase our numbers.
"Hopefully this will give parents one less excuse as to why their kids cannot play rugby and they can use their active kids vouchers for other sports."
The club will be aiming to promote junior rugby in the region at the March 21 Super Rugby clash at Scully Park between the Waratahs and the Bulls.
"It is a great opportunity to have some of the world's best rugby union players in the background whilst promoting the game of rugby," Turner said.
"That's why we will be holding a registration day at Scully Park on Friday, March 20, while the Waratahs and Bulls have their Captains Training Run.
"As well as promoting the club around that game, we will also be promoting the club and the sport in the local schools in the lead up to the season."
Turner said the club was also exploring ways of helping ease the burden of travelling for families during the season.
"We are looking at providing a bus for several of the gala days to assist with parents who may struggle to travel," Turner said.
"What a lot of people don't realise is there is only 11 carnivals for the season and in Tamworth we are fortunate that the majority of these carnivals are within an hour travel.
"We are currently in the process of trying to lock in a major sponsor to assist with new gear and travel expenses, so if there's anyone out there who wants to get involved please feel free to contact us."
