His family has concerns for his welfare after he left his home yesterday around 8.30pm without letting any of his family members know.
Tamworth police are asking for assistance from the public to help find the missing 73-year-old.
Mr Carwardine is described as having a fair complexion, 178 centimetres in height, 120 kilograms, stocky build, short grey beard and blue eyes.
He could be driving a white Mitsubishi station wagon with the NSW registration plate: COR78V.
