The annual Bendemeer Rodeo is shaping up to be one of the biggest for a number of years with recent rain not only lifting spirits in the community but also helping spark a late rush of entries.
Bendemeer Rodeo and Campdraft committee secretary Melissa Rule said entry numbers pretty well doubled over the weekend.
The event will again run without the campdraft component due to the ongoing drought and the lack of stock, but that doesn't seem to have had much of an impact.
The action is set to get underway at 12noon with the 'slack' program.
The main program then gets bucking at 6pm.
"There will be stalls, food vans and a canteen," Rule said.
"This year we're also having a bit of a retail area."
"There'll be music by the Moosic Man and he'll go to late."
There will also be a jumping castle for the kids.
Rule said the rain has been very welcome.
"There has been a lot of rain so far this year which is great to see," she said.

It has been a tough few years for the local community. Firstly with the ongoing drought and then the fires just before Christmas. But they always look forward to the rodeo, Rule said, and get behind it.
Everyone gets involved, from the school to the various local organisations and clubs.
And the proceeds are all reinvested back into the community.
"The committee will pick some organisations to put some money towards," Rule said.
The school run the main canteen, and last year were able to build a new playground from the money they raised.
Rural Aid have also come on board to support the event.
Entry is $20 for adults, $10 for kids under 16 and aged pensioners, and $50 for a family (two adults and two kids).
It will be a big weekend at the ground with the Moonbi Magic Barrel Racing Inc holding their first event for the year on Sunday.
