The Small Business Liaison Officer will work with council and small business owners, focusing on community and economic growth, sustainability and skill development.
The holder of the new position will also work with federal and state governments to take advantage of development benefits for the region's small businesses, and seek out funding opportunities.
"The major benefit of this new position will be the ability for council to play a consistent and proactive 'on the ground' liaison role directly with small business owners," director of Corporate and Community Services Lindsay Mason said.
He hoped the establishment of the role and future projects would encourage small business investment in the Narrabri Shire.
