THE identity of the man charged with the armed hold-up of an Armidale hotel can now be revealed after his case was mentioned in court.

Michael Waters was due to front Armidale Local Court on Monday for the first time on one count of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.
But magistrate Michael Holmes mentioned the case before adjourning it, ordering a remand warrant be issued to have Waters appear in court from prison.
The 24-year-old is accused of wielding a crowbar to rob the hotel of a stash of cash and other goods, two days before Christmas.

Strike Force Fryer - the operation by Armidale detectives investigating robberies in the city - made a breakthrough in its investigation, arresting Waters in Tamworth on January 23.
A day later, officers also raided a Solomon Avenue home in Armidale, and seized jewellery and clothing they will allege is connected to the hotel robbery.
Detectives will allege he was armed with a crowbar, and was in the company of co-accused Kenneth Campbell and another man, when they stormed the hotel on December 23.
They allegedly threatened the staff inside, stealing cash and other goods, and then fled.
Strike Force Fryer has already arrested Jordan Waters, Bruce Walker and Campbell. All three men have been denied bail on a raft of armed robbery, theft and break-in charges.
Detectives are hunting another man they allege is connected to the robbery.
