A teenager has been charged after an aggravated break-and-enter in Narrabri on Monday afternoon.
Police allege the teenager entered a house on Blanche Peadon Drive at about 1:15pm armed with a knife.
The 71-year-old resident was asleep at the time. It's alleged the teenager pulled out a knife and then fled the scene.
The teenager is believed to be one of the elderly man's neighbours.
Oxley Police District officers visited the scene a short while later and found a 17-year-old boy on McClintock Street.
The young man was arrested and taken to Narrabri Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break-and-enter and committing a serious indictable offence while armed, being armed with the intent to commit an indictable offence, having a precious conviction, using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and carrying a cutting weapon upon apprehension.
The 17-year-old fronted Children's Court on Tuesday and was refused bail to appear again in February.
He did not enter a plea to any of the charges.
