Tamworth Paceway dachshund racing start times on January 23

Three packed fields have been produced for the Thursday meeting with nine dogs going head to head in each race.

Insiders on the dachshund racing scene have told The Leader that training has been intense to turn these sausage dogs into torpedoes.

One trainer said: "They might not be built for speed, but wait until you see my little guy go. He's gonna blow them away."

Another trainer said: "Their little legs look so funny when they try to run fast."

As far as best bets go, we've saved ours for the get out.

Cookie in the last looks hard to beat.

This doggo is quick out of the gates and is built to sprint. If Cookie can get a clean start, lead from the good gate and pinch a couple lengths down the straight, this dachshund will take some running down.

The first dachshund race will start at 5.35pm, just after the first harness race of the evening.

There is a couple rules surrounding the races. All dogs must be on a lead and up to date with vaccinations and owners need to report to the compound on arrival. No other dogs will be permitted on the grounds other than those that are racing.
