The over-50s game against Merewether in Scone on Sunday has been called off to to rain. In a post on the Tamworth Vets Cricket Facebook page it said that the teams were looking at dates to reschedule.
EARLIER:
Tamworth's veterans cricketers are hitting the road this weekend, as the season really starts to heat up.
The over-50s team is off to Scone to play Merewether in the Doug Walters Cup.
So far Tamworth are undefeated in this age group and will be hard to toss again. Led by Steve Wilson, the side contains a few former high level rep players in Warren Faulkner and David Marshall, while Phil Constable and Richard Rowlings represented NSW at the Nationals in Perth in October.
The over-60s meanwhile make the trip to Wauchope to play against Mid North Coast.
The side is presently a bit light on and will likely have to call on a couple of reinforcements from the coast. A number of the Tamworth 70s will also be playing as a warm-up for the State Championships in Port Macquarie in next month.

Chriss Crowell will again lead the team again and be supported by NSW players Ben Van Aanholt, Terry Murphy and Greg Kellett.
The matches lead into a hectic time for Tamworth veterans cricket. The over-70s play their State Championships in Port Macquarie from February 2-4. On February 9 both the 50s and 60s teams will travel to Inverell for matches against New England.
The over-60s then travel to Gosford to play Central Coast on February 16, and Newcastle the following day.
On February 21 they will host their annual charity game. This year the funds will be donated to the local RFS.
Tamworth vet's crickets' Greg Kellett said it will hopefully be against a local ladies rep team.
He reports that they have an RFS fireman playing. Local MP Kevin Anderson has also put his hand up for a hit and NBN reporter Luke Hislop may be a chance of playing.
The over-50s then head to Orange for the state championships from February 22-24 where they will play in Division 1, while the over-67s have a two day carnival in Tamworth on February 24 and 25.
The season culminates on April 6 and 7 with Tamworth hosting the annual CooperFinlay Cup against Queensland.
There will be 20 teams competing in this event, and games will be split between Tamworth, Gunnedah and Quirindi. Gunnedah will host the four over-50s teams and Quirindi the four over-70s with Tamworth playing host to the 12 teams in the over-60s.
Kellett said the interest has been overwhelming, with 125 players from across the state putting their names up to be selected in the six over-60s teams and 55 nominating for the two teams for over-70s.
