A total of 51.2mm of rain fell between 1pm and 5.30pm on Thursday, Janauary 17 - the heaviest rainfall since March 14, 2017 when 59.8mm was recorded.
It was also the heaviest January fall Moree has had since 2013.

The heavens opened just after lunch on Thursday and a massive thunderstorm brought heavy rain, with about 25mm recorded in half an hour at around 2pm.
The rain continued into the afternoon, clearing up at about 5.30pm.
It was a very welcome relief for people across the district, with hope spreading as videos and photos of dams filling up and water flowing began flooding social media.
Thursday's rainfall is already nearly half of last year's total rainfall of 125.4mm.
More rain is expected for Friday, Saturday and Monday.
