TAMWORTH'S Luke Deasey has recorded an impressive 10th-place finish on the opening day of the 2020 national road championships.

Competing in the under-19 division, Deasey was the best of the NSW riders, edging out Dubbo's Kurt Eather, who finished 13th.
Deasey starred during the 18.8 kilometre race, finishing in an impressive time of 26 minutes and 40 seconds.

Competing as a part of the Rauland Development Team, Deasey set himself the goal of impressing at this year's championships in Ballarat.
"I've done my training and I just wanna see how I go," Deasey told the Leader
"I feel like I've done everything I could to do my best."
This year's competition is the most recent major event Deasey has competed in since representing the NSW under-19 team at the Tour de DMZ in South Korea.
Day two of the annual competition will see riders battle it out in the club team and school teams time trial.
