PLAYERS across the region are set to benefit from a decision to not raise registrations fees for the 2020 season.

The decision was made by Northern Inland Football (NIF)'s board of directors, which said the fees applied to all players in the region and the decision had been made to help keep the game affordable for families.
In geographically the largest zone in Northern NSW Football, more than 6000 players took the field in 2019, a 3.65 per cent increase from the previous year.

The zone also saw a spike in women's participation, which increased by more than 7 per cent thanks in part to new programs such as the Kick on for Women's program and Aldi MiniRoos for girls.
Junior numbers were also up in 2019, as the entry-level age groups of 4-7 years and 8-11 years enjoyed a 2.77 per cent increase in participation.
The decision to not raise playing fees comes after NIF announced there would be a shake-up of the competition's Premier League for 2020.
This season's new structure would see the current top-flight competition split geographically until finals.
Registrations for the 2020 NIF season are now open and the competition will begin in May.
