Cycling Australia (CA) and event organisers say they are monitoring the bushfire emergency situation in Victoria and any potential impact to those participating or attending this week's 2020 Federation University Road National Championships in Ballarat.

The five day festival, which will see Australia's best under-19, under-23, elite and para cyclists battle it out for the coveted green and gold national champions jerseys in the criterium, time trial and road race and feature a host of North West cyclists is scheduled to get underway on Wednesday.
In a media release on Monday, CA and event organsiers said they have been in regular contact with the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Victoria Police and Ballarat City Council with regards to the risk of bushfire in the region, the air quality situation, and the weather forecast.
"The situation will be also monitored by the Event Control Centre on-site each day of the championships," the release said.
"Any and all decisions regarding the event will be guided by the advice and information obtained from the above discussions with participants and stakeholders to be provided with updates as required."

RoadNats organisers will be testing the air quality with reports to be received twice daily and will also take advice from the official medical supplier and race doctor.
Currently, planning does not demonstrate any hazardous air quality levels during the event.
The weather forecasts as of Monday are also favourable but event organisers are monitoring daily forecasts.
