In the December business papers, the council's general manager Eric Groth wrote that they anticipated further growth because the federal government had released 10,000 more home care packages in early December and the industry had "become more competitive and commercial".
"An attractive, visible and prominent presence [is] now more important than ever," he wrote.
"The proposed office space is located in the East Tamworth Medical Centre ... a 'health hub' providing high visibility and which includes a medical centre, pharmacy, pathology and radiology all services regularly required by our clients."
Councillor Owen Hasler backed the expansion at the recent meeting, saying he chaired the committee when GoCo was established in 1989 and it was "good to see it grow and expand".
He was supported by Cr Gae Swain who said it was a "tremendous organisation and it's doing great work".
"I think it's a feather in Gunnedah council's cap that they took on this project so many years ago and it's just grown exponentially, and we look forward to hearing further success from the Tamworth area," Cr Swain said.
GoCo covers five local government areas encompassing Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Moree and the Liverpool Plains. Offices are based in Narrabri, Tamworth, Kootingal, Barraba and Gunnedah.
The transition involved the transfer of TRC's Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) funded aged-care services and New England Carer Support Service, which provides counselling, support, information and advocacy services (CSIA) for carers.
The agreement included the retention of service hubs in Barraba, Kootingal, Nundle and Tamworth.
