More than 2,800 cub scouts including those from Tamworth, and their leaders, were set to meet in south-western Sydney for the largest scouting event of the year on Saturday.
Significant and persistent concerns about bushfires has led to the event being cancelled, a Scouts NSW spokeswoman said.
"Scouts NSW takes the health and safety of our members at Scouting events very seriously," she said.
"Due to ... a firm recommendation from the RFS Command and the Regional Emergency Management Officer to cancel Cuboree 2020, the NSW Cuboree 2020 has been cancelled and will not proceed."
