Narrabri won the toss and batted, posting 178. Opener Nick Smart top-scored (50), with Troy Sands (3-23) and Sam Doubleday (3-33) the pick of Gunnedah's bowlers.

Ahead of the final in Narrabri on Sunday, Tamworth captain Paterson said the big win over Inverell had given his outfit the ideal springboard into the clash.
"We batted really well and then bowled really well," he said, adding: "It was easily our best performance of the year so far. It's always good to do that going into a grand final."
He continued: "Obviously finals are a funny game, funny things happen ... [but] hopefully the experience pays off: we've been there, done it before."
