The two schools played each other in futsal and oztag as part of the Wollongong schools' visit to the region.
"The principal at Illawarra - Gary Hampton - is an ex-teacher from this area and he planned a trip to a regional area just to provide an opportunity for the coastal kids to interact with kids from the bush," Oxley's Katrina Davis explained.
They also played league at Farrer on Monday night.
After stopping overnight at Lake Keepit on Tuesday night they continued on to Warialda, where Hampton was previously principal, on Wednesday.
Predominantly involving Oxley's Year 7 and 8 students, Davis said it's a great initiative and the kids had a lot of fun.
"It was a fun morning and something we'll look to do next year," she said.
Oxley's Talented Athlete Program coordinator, she said it was also a good opportunity to interact with another school that runs a talented sports program and learn how they run their program and "see what we can do in terms of our programs".
They currently offer programs for hockey, soccer and girls rugby.
"We've got about 50 students across those three programs," Davis said.
She said they are looking at expanding the TAP and are in the process of seeking interest for other sports.
"That will all happen in the next year," she said.
