ROD Ollerton trained his first winner in the Hunter and North West Racing Association this season at Quirindi on Thursday - then promptly made it two win, in the very next race.

The Newcastle trainer broke his HNWRA drought when Dicko's Mate won the $22,000 QPP Media Maiden Handicap (1200m). And about 40 minutes later, Ollerton had a double when Hand It In prevailed in the $22,000 John Deer PVM Open Handicap (1600m).
In race one, Lingalonga Lass - ridden by Chinese apprentice Qin Yong - made her Quirindi debut a successful one when the Cessnock mare surged down the middle of the track for a good win. It was her third in 14 starts.

Six-year-old gelding Hand It in, a son of Tickets, was having his 33rd start and notched his seventh career win. Four of his victories have come on HNWRA tracks. He has won almost $160,000 in prizemoney.
Dicko's Mate, a four-year-old gelding son of All Too Hard, broke through for his first win at his 21st start. Rachael Murray opped the gelding out half way down the Quirindi hill to snare a nice win.
He was having his fourth look at Quirindi, having had his first start there in February 2018. "He won well, took a while to get there," Ollerton said.
"He'd run good at Scone (second to Trackman at his previous start) and has just taken a while to learn what to do. He's still does a few things wrong."
