Bingara murder: Robert James Stonestreet accused of murder concealment

Robert James Stonestreet is charged with concealing a serious indictable offence, namely the 2010 alleged murder of Darren Royce Willis.

Magistrate Michael Dakin refused Stonestreet's bail in Moree Local Court on Monday.

The matter will return to court in January next year where a brief is due to be served, and Stonestreet must appear via video link from prison.

Police allege co-accused, Bruce Anthony Coss, 48, struck Mr Willis near his Bingara home, and killed him.

He then allegedly dumped Mr Willis' body at an unknown location. His remains still have not been found.

New England detectives allege Stonestreet has key details on the general location of Mr Willis' remains.

Police allege he was present when the murder occurred and did not come forward with information during the investigation.

Stonestreet is yet to enter a plea to the conceal serious indictable charge.

He has remained in custody since his arrest in Bingara in October by officers from Strike Force Barca, the secret police operation set up to investigate Mr Willis' murder.

A $350,000 reward is on offer for answers in the case, as they continue to try to locate Mr Willis' remains. Stonestreet's matter returns to court in January, 2020.
