A MAN remains in custody being questioned by detectives after this morning's deadly housefire that claimed the lives of a woman and child.
The pair died after the fierce blaze - that's been labelled suspicious by police - ripped through the home about 5.30am.
Firefighters and police rushed to the scene and were there within minutes of the triple zero call.
They managed to save a woman who suffered extensive burns, as well as a young boy who suffered minor injuries and smoke inhalation.

The two were rushed to Tamworth hospital by ambulance where they are being treated by doctors.
Tragically, a young child and another woman died at the scene.
Detectives and specialist police officers are continuing to comb the crime scene, where the blackened remains of the weatherboard home still stands.
A man remains in police custody at Tamworth Police Station, where he is being questioned by investigators about the blaze. No charges have been laid.
Police have confirmed he is assisting with inquiries.
The fatal fire has been labelled suspicious by authorities who are trying to determine what happened shortly before flames were seen leaping from the home.
Neighbours have spoken of the fierce blaze that awoke many just before dawn, as sirens blasted through the quiet neighbourhood on the outskirts of Tamworth.
The area isn't connected to town water, which is believed to have been an added challenge for firefighters as they tried to extinguish the blaze.
Police are expected to release further details on the incident on Thursday afternoon and have confirmed detectives are being assisted by the State Crime Command's Arson Unit.

TWO people have died and others have been injured in a fierce fire in Tamworth on Thursday morning.
The deadly fire broke out about 5.30am at a house in Hillvue.
Police said a woman has suffered burns to her body and a child has suffered smoke inhalation, and both were taken to Tamworth hospital.
Ambulance NSW said it was alerted shortly after 5.30am and four patients were assessed at the scene.
"Paramedics treated four patients including two children, a woman and an elderly woman," an Ambulance NSW spokesperson said.

"The adults and [child] are suffering from extensive burns. The [second] child is being treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation."
Police have confirmed a man is assisting with their inquiries.
Dozens of police, detectives and fire crews are still combing the scene at the weatherboard home, after a crime scene was declared.
The road has been closed and people are being urged to avoid the area.
