Summers said teams would "probably" only play once a month, with a grand final day in April involving all six teams.
The teams will play one anther only once during the regular season. All the games are on Sunday.
Summers said he decided to launch the competition after moving from Narrabri to Boggabri some two years ago and "not having much to do".
"There's not much in the town to do other than football during football season," he said.
He added: "I ran a similar comp in Narrabri, probably six or seven years ago, that ran for four, five years.
"So I sort of cloned it, but made this one a little bit smaller."
Summers said he thought about launching the comp last season, but "didn't get it together quick enough".
He said it would be "very social".
