The Haskards and the Ewings were two of those Tamworth families.
Both families made the trip to ANZ Stadium for the NRL grand final between the Sydney Roosters and the Canberra Raiders.
In the lead-up to Sunday, Rob Haskard, a Roosters supporter, said he and wife Liz, a Raiders fan, were "putting our marriage to the ultimate test this Sunday by attending the game together."
The pair sat deep in Raiders territory for the game as the Roosters snuck home but more importantly we can report that marriage survived - just - according to Rob.
The Ewing family were split up into three Roosters supporters and two Raiders supporters.
Roosters supporter Sarah Ewing said it was to be a "battle of the siblings and husband and wife" in the lead-up the game.
