The pre-season Crossroads Cup set the season up to be an even one and while the regular season didn't pan out that way - with the Inverell Saints and Gunnedah Bulldogs being the two dominant sides - the finals series was a closer affair.
Many expected the Saints and Dogs to meet in the decider but the New England Nomads had other ideas and knocked the minor premiership-winning Inverell side out of the finals.
The Nomads then fell at the last hurdle as the Bulldogs claimed their second premiership in three years.
Lower down the ladder were the Tamworth Swans, the Tamworth Kangaroos and the Moree Suns, in that order.
The Northern Daily Leader spoke with all six first grade coaches to find out their highlight, club players of the year and if they were going to coach in 2020 amongst other things.
