After being crowned McCarthy and then diocesan age champion, the Year 7 student last week won gold in the under-13 boys 200m and 400m at the Combined Catholic Colleges Championships.
"It was good. I knew there were some fast kids," he said.
School-mate Isabella Bolsom also medalled, throwing her way to silver in the 12 years girls shot put.
For Gordon his performance was a confidence boost ahead of the NSW All Schools Championships, where he will compete in both the 200m and 400m as well as the 100m, which he finished fourth in at the CCC titles.
The All Schools begin in Sydney on Friday, and adding extra incentive is the prospect of qualifying for the nationals in Perth in December.
Gordon is hoping to go on to the nationals.
He has been in impressive form. At the CCC championships he ran personal bests in both the 200m and 400m, clocking 56.06 seconds for the 400m, and 24.20secs for the 200m.

He had earlier at the school carnival broken the records for the 100m (12.72 seconds), 200m (26.34secs) and 400m (1min, 02.15secs).
Running is in Gordon's blood. His mother, and coach, Anne McNamara-Gordon was herself a sprinter of some pedigree, and is a former national champion at primary level.
Earlier in the year at the McCarthy carnival he broke the records for the 100m (12.72 seconds), 200m (26.34secs) and 400m (1min, 02.15secs).
Bolsom, who also placed sixth in the discus and is currently down in Sydney playing at the Netball Schools Cup state finals, was really happy with how she threw in what were some challenging conditions.
"It was actually quite wet and the circle was a bit slippery and the shot a bit slippery," she said.
She still managed to throw a pb, launching the shot 9.54m with the second of her three throws.
"I've gone up a weight this year," she said.
"I've gone from 2kg to 3kg."
It is the third time in as many years, since taking up the discipline, she has medalled at a major carnival. At the Polding titles last year Bolsom, then at St Michael's Manilla, won gold, and the year before that bronze.
Gordon too is no stranger to the state podium.
Last year he won bronze in the 400m at the state little athletics championships.
