A MOTORBIKE rider has died after falling during a ride in the New England on Wednesday afternoon.

The 65-year-old man died at the scene on the Gwydir Highway, near Glen Innes.
The man was travelling with a group of riders headed west on the highway towards town, when the accident occurred about 3.15pm.
The rider was travelling towards the back of the group when he failed to negotiate a bend in the road and fell from his motorbike, investigators have been told.

Police said one of the other riders stopped and rendered assistance, however, he was unable to be revived and died at the scene.
Emergency services were alerted and rushed to the road, where they set up a crime scene and launched an investigation.
Police said investigations are continuing and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.
