An earthquake was registered just outside of Muswellbrook this morning.

The earthquake registered at 2.5 on the Richter magnitude scale by Geoscience Australia just after 4am.
A quake with a magnitude of 2.5 sits in the minor earthquake category and is felt slightly by some people and doesn't cause damage to buildings.

It's not the only time earthquakes have been felt in the area.
There was a small quake in Murrurundi back in June while in September 2018, the Muswellbrook Shire experienced a string of earthquakes over three days.
Five were registered in total.
One of the quakes, which were of a magnitude of 3.4, was the strongest EPSO (Edward Pigot Seismic Observatory) ground motion logged since April, 2014.
