The long-time servant has been named the Northern Inland Football Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Month for August.
Smith was nominated by Moree FC for his commitment to a number of teams over his time with the club.
"It is very pleasing to be able to recognise Darrel for displaying the attitudes and behaviours that Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is trying to instill in all community coaches," NNSWF senior officer community football Ross Hicks commented.
"Providing an effective learning environment in a safe and fun way is key to Moree Services FC providing a positive football experience to their players and Darrel should be commended for his commitment to the club and the team."
Monique Soutter's ongoing commitment and dedication to Wee Waa FC has meanwhile seen her acknowledged as the Volunteer of the Month.
"Wee Waa United FC is a better football club for the contribution Monique has made through her passion, hard work and willingness to 'roll the sleeves up' and help to provide the best football experience possible for Wee Waa United players, parents and spectators alike," Hicks said.
Glen Innes District Football Association was awarded the Club of the Month award in recognition of the significant role their committee plays in advancing and creating the best possible experience for their players and members.

"Glen Innes District Football Association has made a significant and valuable contribution to the local community by implementing strategies to enhance and encourage the football experience across all of their players from youth to senior," Hicks said.
"With offering extra training sessions and activities for their members, the club has been growing especially within their girl's competitions."
The Referee of the Month for August is Ian Dallinger.
Dallinger officiates matches for NIF and has shown true dedication and passion for the game giving players, coaches and spectators the best experience possible.
