ELEVEN new officers have joined the blue ranks across the Oxley and New England, with their first official day done and dusted.

Probationary Constables Matthew Taylor, Blake Taylor, Luke Higgins and Ashley Strong clocked on for their first day on the beat on Monday in Tamworth, just days after their pass out parade at Goulburn on Friday.
The four officers are additional positions, meaning more than 90 police will work out of the Tamworth station now.
And, while they'll be paired with a senior officer to mentor them, the first 12 months means there is a lot to learn on the job.

"General duties, which is where they're going to be, is pretty broad so we'll go from firearms inspections to domestics to serious assaults to home invasions to all those things we know that happen in our world unfortunately," Tamworth officer-in-charge Chief Inspector Jeff Budd said.
"[We'll] be bringing them along, showing the techniques and the policy and getting them ingratiated into the job.
"It's a difficult job, so we're happy to bring them along nice and slowly and show them how to do it right."
The posting to Tamworth is a tree change for some of the four, who will still study on the job for the next year before they earn their stripe as a constable.
The added resources fulfills a government promise, Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said.
"Tamworth city is growing, our population is growing so what we need to do is match the support and services for that population growth," he said.
"We've got to provide the resources, we've got to provide the man power for police to be able to keep our communities safe."
Seven new police hit the beat in New England, with the officers to be posted to Armidale, Glen Innes, Inverell, and Moree.
