It is believed the lady fell from her horse and sustained a broken leg while riding at Watsons Creek, north of Tamworth.
She then proceeded to drag herself about two kilometres so she could call for help.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the accident around 7pm last night.
The horse rider was transported to the Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital in a stable condition.
