Early morning risers in Glen Innes continued to cop sub-zero temperatures over the weekend but Friday really took the cake.

The frosty town registered its coldest day in a decade on Friday, with the Bureau registering minus 12.3 degrees at 6.33am at the airport.
The reading was also the coldest temperature reading posted anywhere in Australia in 2019.
It's the coldest morning since August 9, 2008 and the coldest July in 25 years since July 8 2002; the Bureau posted temperatures of minus 12.8 both occasions, more than 8 degrees below average.
It's the third time in a week Glen Innes has been the coldest place in the country. Temperatures remained below negative double digits until 7am this morning, with apparent temperatures bottoming out at a Siberian minus 17.8 at 6.30am with windchill.

Glen Innes earlier this year matched the autumn record low, posting a reading of minus 9.8 at the airport at 6.41am on May 31.
The town is still well shy of the official July record low of minus 19.6 set in Charlotte Pass in 2010.
