Canadian country artist Jess Moskaluke to play at Country to Country Festivals in Australia

Headed to Australia for the first time to play at Country to Country festival, she's the first female country artist to have a single in the top five Canadian singles chart since 2008.

"I'm not sure if it's the case in Australia, but in Canadian country music it is challenging to be a female and I couldn't tell you why that is," Moskaluke said.

"I grew up listening to Shania Twain, she is my favourite artist of any genre, of any gender, of any kind.

"So the fact my name is being used next to hers blew my mind."

Moskaluke grew up in Rocanville, Saskatchewan, a small town with just two radio stations - both which played country music.

Her current single Save Some of that Whiskey is one she wrote years ago.

"It's about a person who has been done wrong by someone else and knows that person will be sorry in the end," she said.

"It's about walking away from a relationship because you need to, we've all had those moments in our life where you move on from a relationship and it's better in the end."

Moskaluke will play alongside America's Tim McGraw and the biggest names in Australian country music, The McClymonts, Travis Collins, Andrew Swift and Sinead Burgess.

C2C is on at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on September 28 and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on September 29.
