The performance features 150 students from Tamworth and Barraba in an explosive show told through jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and musical theatre.
The concept is one co-director Kristi Cini thought would be unique and engaging for audiences.
"There's so many awesome themes in The Neverending Story about dreams, wishes and believing in yourself and that's something we really promote here at our school," she said.
"We have a lot of costumes within our collection but with each concert we edit and make a lot of changes to make them appropriate for the theme.
"So my mum has spent weeks sewing dragon spines and has been working full-time for the past few weeks to get the costumes ready."
