A GoFundMe page set up by a family friend at 10am on Wednesday had raised more than $66,500 last night, charging ahead of its $50,000 goal.
As of 9.30am on Thursday, more than $120,000 had been raised.
Donations poured in throughout the day from locals and people further afar.

Singleton mayor Sue Moore said the community's "thoughts and prayers" were with the 31-year-old mother and eight-year-old daughter who survived the fire.
"We are proud of our tight-knit community in Singleton, and a tragedy like this, particularly with children involved, will touch everyone in some way," she said. "We will all band together to offer ongoing support to neighbours, schools and everyone in the wider community who have been affected.
"I wish to highlight the bravery of the neighbours and emergency service workers who attended the scene, and support the efforts of the NSW Police, NSW Fire & Rescue and NSW Ambulance to provide the ongoing assistance they will no doubt need.
"To everyone who has been touched by this tragedy, I offer our community's deepest sympathies."
