AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into a housefire which police believe could have been deliberately lit.

At about 10:15pm on Friday, emergency services were called to a housefire on McBean Avenue in Armidale.
When New England police arrived, the home was engulfed in flames.
NSW Fire and Rescue crews worked to extinguish the fire by 1:20am but the house had already sustained significant structural damage.
No people were inside the home at the time, but the house was destroyed.
