As if winning $10,000 of an instant scratch-its ticket isn't lucky enough, an Armidale couple have gone and done it with the first one they ever bought.

The couple received a shock when they were told they'd claimed the $10,000 prize.
The couple wish to remain anonymous but dd say they are planning a family holiday. The winning ticket was purchased at JJ's Newsagency Plus in Armidale Plaza.
"I was very excited when I heard," newsagency owner Jess Fischer said.

"The win couldn't have gone to a more deserving couple. We are thrilled for them and wish them all the best.
"This is the first major prize we have sold since we took over the outlet earlier this year.
"Fingers crossed we sell some more major prize winning tickets soon."
The winning couple explained that they were shocked and it felt like it was meant to be. The couple have been through a bit of a rough time lately so they just thought that they would try their luck.
Sharing their joy with a NSW Lotteries official, the happy couple explained how shocked they were to discover their good fortune.
"This is the first ticket we have ever bought," the winning woman explained.
"We were very shocked. I really couldn't believe we won. It felt like it was meant to be."
The wife said the couple were excited to use their prize to go on a much-needed family holiday.
"We will pay off some of our bills and then we'd like to go on a holiday," she shared. "The prize will take a big load off our shoulders."
