Whether it's on the greens at the South Tamworth bowls club, or the call-out for motorbike riders to roll out in their honour, or the slew of local businesses giving what they can, it has been "awesome".
I think Tamworth is pretty good at digging deep for each other when someone's in need. They really pull together.
- Mel Macaulay
For Mel Macaulay, a lifelong Tamworthian, it's no surprise to see a concerted cross-community effort.
"It's awesome to see people can get out there and give and in hard times," she said.
"I think Tamworth is pretty good at digging deep for each other when someone's in need. They really pull together."
The family is hosting a fundraising lawn bowls day at the South Tamworth club on Sunday, with more than 100 tickets sold and a bunch of others expected to roll up on the day.

The heights the community has already reached chipping in en masse is possibly equally matched by the heartbreaking depths of sister Casey Macaulay's trials over the years.
She is in Sydney receiving radiation treatment for her fourth separate cancer diagnosis in her 31 years.
At age two, it was a brain tumour, followed by leukaemia at age nine.
Six years ago, it was a dermoid tumour on her bowels and kidney.
And a month ago, she was diagnosed with a squamous cell skin cancer, resulting in extensive surgery of her face and jaw.
Her treatment means she has to be based in Sydney for six weeks and has come under financial strain.
While the lawn bowls fundraiser will help with the costs of travel, it's hoped enough can be raised to help Casey fulfill a lifelong dream of climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Tamworth biker Troy Windle has also organised a ride for Casey on Sunday to help with the cause.
He has thrown open the invite to any motorcyclists who want to join.
The ride will set off from the Rex Motors service station on Werris Creek Road at 10am, with a $20 buy-in.
Tickets for the lawn bowls fundraiser are $25.
Funds can also be donated to the family via direct transfer to BSB: 802 298, account number 100 110 491.
