OXLEY High School has smashed its Relay for Life fundraising total, handing over a bumper sum to the local Cancer Council office.

It was the first time the Tamworth school had hosted the event in lieu of the traditional community walk-athon.
Strolling into uncharted territory, the students set a small fundraising goal of $5000.

After tallying the totals in their fundraising tins, Oxley High was able to pass their goal in a canter.
More than 250 people took part in the relay last Saturday and through various bake sales and barbecues, the Oxley crew raised $7500 for the local branch of Cancer Council.
The school hoped to expand its Relay for Life event in 2020.
