A "clunky" Tamworth FC stayed atop the table with an own-goal 1-0 win over OVA at Scully Park, as they prepare to face a white-hot South Armidale in a match their coach, Greg Bartlett, says may "define" both sides' season.

An own goal to Mushies keeper Jack Diebold, when he split a corner kick just before halftime on Saturday, secured Tamworth FC their fourth win of the season.
But Bartlett was unimpressed with the performance, admitting that the side is struggling to adjust to the loss of influential midfielder Chris Hughes - gone for the season with a knee injury.
"We're just still a bit clunky, but it will come after the change I want to make," Bartlett said. "I sort of can't make it yet, and I think that will make a lot of difference.

"But I just haven't got the players to cover for the position that I want to swap around yet. It's a work in progress. But we got three points - that's probably the most important thing from it [the OVA clash]."
Bartlett said Sunday's clash against second-placed South Armidale at Johnson Field would be "an indication of where we're at".
The Scorpions have scored an incredible 25 goals in their past two matches: a 12-1 defeat of OVA followed by a 13-0 drubbing of East Armidale on Saturday.
Bartlett said the Scorpions were "obviously peaking". "It could define our season, could define there's as well," he said of the match.
Elsewhere, Norths United beat Demon Knights 4-0.
