The washed-out Somerton Cup meeting will become a distant memory when the eight-race Gunnedah Gold Cup carnival is staged on Sunday.

A TAB Showcase event, the meeting is expected to lure up to 2000 racegoers.
The gates open at 10.30am, with the first race at 12 noon and the last race at 4.21pm.
Buses will in service on the day, ferrying people to and from the course.
A bus will leave the golf club at 10am - stopping at the Railway Hotel (10.10am), Wolsely Oval (10.20am), the Imperial Hotel (10.30am) and McDonald's (10.40am).

That service will be repeated, with the bus leaving the golf club at 11am and arriving at the aforementioned stops every 10 minutes.
At the course, there will be a fashions on the field contest featuring $1000 prize money.
There will also be live music and kids entertainment, such as a jumping castle.
Buses will be available at the conclusion of the last race to ferry people from the track.
A Calcutta, based on the Gunnedah Gold Cup, will be held at the Railway Hotel on Saturday, starting at 7pm.
