AFL North West held a meeting last night to determine the outcome of the game, ruling in favour of a replay on a future date and location that suits both clubs.
In the meantime, there will be an inspection of the Moree Showground to ensure it's in a good condition for this weekend's matches.
The Suns under-17s will host the Inverell Saints at 12pm before the senior men take on competition leaders Gunnedah Bulldogs in their first game since round one.
EARLIER: The Moree Suns looked all set to host the Tamworth Kangaroos for their first meeting of the season and their first game at their new home, the Moree Showground, but due to circumstances outside the club's control, the game never played out.
After the under-17s game between the Suns and Tamworth Roosters was called off due to the Roosters coach deeming the ground unsafe, the Kangaroos didn't turn up to the ground to do their own inspection after some communication between the Tamworth junior and senior sides.
Suns senior coach Eric Faulkner said that was the most upsetting part of the situation, particularly as he and the umpires cleared the ground.
"That was the most disappointing thing that they didn't even turn up," Faulkner said.
"It's a short enough season as it is, with the two byes, it only works out to be 12 games and then for people not to turn up. You'd think everyone would want to play just to get some footy."
Faulkner said his team was more than willing to play after training on the ground in the week leading up.
He said he was in conversation with the Kangaroos president, attempting to convince the team to come to the ground without success.
"It's very disappointing that they didn't show. If they show up and don't sign off on the ground that's a completely different thing," Faulkner said.
"It's disappointing for me to put so much work in as coach in this country league when you're chasing players from Sunday to Saturday to play.
"We've got people driving from farms, we had a couple of guys come from Gundy.
"We had guys who have gone down to get the field in order, doing the lines, setting the goal posts up, Canteen staff heating up food in the canteen."
Kangaroos coach Tony Bishop said he had no part in the decision made to not play the match.
"I was informed the game was not going to be played. I don't know how that ends up with any other part of the situation. I don't know what the recourse is," he said.
"I certainly made no decisions or made no representations about how it turned out."
There will be an AFL North West meeting held on Wednesday night, May 15, to determine the outcome of the match.
