AN ARMIDALE man was still being treated in hospital on Wednesday night after allegedly leading police on a chase before crashing.

The 31-year-old was arrested after his car collided with a police car then struck a tree shortly after 10am, near the intersection of Apple Tree Hill Road and Rockvale Road.
Police will allege the man is a disqualified driver and reached speeds of up to 100km per hour in a 50km zone during the chase in Armidale.
The man was first spotted in Canambe Street and officers tried to stop the sedan before they allege the driver ignored police warnings and took off.

The car flipped in the crash, onto its side, while the police car sustained minor damage.
The man was taken by ambulance to Armidale hospital with minor injuries.
He remained under police guard on Wednesday night but investigators confirmed they expected to lay police pursuit - Skye's law and disqualified driving charges against the man, once he is released.
The car was towed from the scene and investigations are continuing.
