Life is a meld of Sewell's tougher experiences in the last few years, he said, and sat down with The Leader ahead of his live televised performance from Tamworth's Moonshiners Honky Tonk Bar on Wednesday night.
"I got to a point where I wanted to be really honest with what I was going through, I had spent so much time trying to please people," Sewell said.
"It's everything, Big World is a documentary song explaining my mother's birth and what I want on my gravestone, Turn of the Knife is about the moment the girl I was with told me she was having a baby with another man.
"Healing Hands and Come Clean are about me dealing with addiction and the things that I was struggling with in and out of that relationship and still do to this day."
The sound is stripped back with big vocals and a lot of ballads, wrapped up in pop bow.

- Conrad Sewell
From a music family, it's no surprise Sewell took to the industry like a duck to water, his grandparents toured with the Bee Gees and he's just about to do the same with his sister, Grace.
A well-known pop artist now, Sewell's affinity with music started with the big vocals of soul.
