The road was closed from Monday, May 6 for upgrades of the Newell Highway between Mungle Back Creek and Boggabilla.
The works, being funded by the state and federal governments, will increase travel reliability, reduce maintenance costs and improve road safety for all road users.
Roads and Maritime Services will carry out the work, which includes site preparation, pavement work and line marking.

Work will be conducted between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday and Saturday from 8am to 1pm, with work expected to be completed in two weeks, weather permitting.
Detours will be in place for cars and heavy vehicles during this time.
