A YOUNG man has been seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident east of Boggabri late Thursday night.

The 18-year-old male was a front seat passenger in the car and sustained serious head injuries in the crash.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter crews had to extricate the man from the car where he was pinned by his legs.
The accident occurred on Braymont Road, Boggabri near the mines at about 11pm on Anzac Day.
There were two passengers in the car at the time and the 18-year-old sustained lower leg injuries but his head injuries were the Westpac Rescue Helicopter crew's main concern.
Crews loaded the man onto the Westpac Rescue Helicopter where he was transported to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
The helicopter crew returned to the hangar early Friday morning.
It's one of a spate of incidents that the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service has responded to.

"Our helicopter crews responded around the clock to emergency calls throughout northern NSW and were kept busy at each of our three bases in Belmont, Tamworth and Lismore."
