A MAN has been charged with breaking into a South Tamworth home while the residents were inside after a forensic hit from evidence found at the scene.

Anthony Shillingsworth was arrested at a Veness Street home by police from the Western Region High Risk Offender Team on Wednesday morning.
The arrest follows investigations into a break-and-enter in Garden Street on January 29.
Police allege the 30-year-old broke into the house and stole a number of personal goods and later fled.
A crime scene was set-up and was combed by forensic police.

He was charged with aggravated break-and-enter and commit serious indictable offence while people are there along with several other unrelated domestic violence-related offences.
He was refused bail by police and fronted Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday afternoon.
Shillingsworth was not required to enter a plea to the break-and-enter charge which was adjourned while police compile a brief of evidence.
He denied the DV-related offences and was refused bail by magistrate Julie Soars, who ordered he remain in custody until the cases return to court in June and July.
