A MAN has died following a car crash near Inverell on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to a scene near Inverell at about 11am on Easter Saturday morning after a Ford Falcon station wagon left the road, rolled and hit a tree.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, a 71-year-old man, died at the scene on the Gwydir Highway.

Officers from New England Police District attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
It follows a horrific start to the Easter long weekend after a head-on collision north of Tamworth claimed the life of one man and critically injured another.
